More power and more torque – the aggressive new 341bhp
Autodelta GT Super Evo will make its public debut at the MPH05 Motor Show at
London’s Earls Court on 17th November
Autodelta
– Europe’s leading Alfa Romeo tuner – will present their new 341bhp Autodelta GT
Super Evo for its ‘world premiere’ during the prestigious MPH05 Motor Show,
which take place at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in the heart of London,
from 17th-20th November 2005. This latest, powerful addition to our performance
sportscar range is an ‘evolution’ of the 320bhp Autodelta GT Super (hence the
tag) which made its debut exactly one year ago at the very same venue. The new
Autodelta GT Super Evo though is a very distinct ‘step’ over the current GT
Super model, pushing the car’s performance and dynamic envelope to the edge.
While it is a new, ‘raw’ interpretation of the Alfa GT, it doesn’t loose sight
of its GT roots, blending these embedded values in with its new, much more
extreme performance capability.
Autodelta’s team of engineers have been working on this upgrade over the course
of the summer, using customer feedback gained from the GT Super line and
significant amounts of data logging that has been collected from the original
prototype. The Rotrex supercharger-powered Autodelta GT Super was in fact
created in 2004 to fit the requirement for a perfectly refined ‘Grand Touring’
Alfa Romeo, a car that could effortlessly eat up the European highways,
providing a blend of blistering performance and superb handling capabilities,
while at the same time cosseting the driver in a refined, relaxed and luxurious
environment. Autodelta never shy away from facing a challenge, and the GT Super
proved its dynamic ability in public when it took part in the inaugural
Autodelta ‘European Tour 2005’ which took four Autodelta models on a mad-dash
across Europe, from London to Rimini in Italy, last April.
”We set out to create a ‘Gran Tourer’ that would adhere to the best Alfa Romeo
traditions,” comments Autodelta boss Jano Djelalian. “To fulfill that brief was
no easy task as Alfa Romeo has always set the benchmark in this area through
their history with cars that effortlessly seduced their owners.” The Autodelta
GT Super was inspired by icons such as the Alfa 6c 1750 Gran Turismo 'compressore',
which provides a strong link due to its technical ‘heritage’, the fabulous Alfa
2600 SZ, remembered for its sheer levels of comfort and its Zagato-styled
distinctive appearance, and the streamlined, lightweight Alfa 1900 SS Touring
Coupe.
“Most of our customers are true to Alfa Romeo’s philosophy and wish to use their
performance cars day-to-day,” continues Jano, “so this is always an important
consideration for us to take into account: that all high performance upgrades we
carry out must never compromise or detract from the practicality and ease of use
of the car.
”A number of our customers though, indicated that they wanted a model that would
push the whole GT Super theme forward a further stage, and in the process create
a harder, more edgy car,” adds Jano. “With the Autodelta GT Super Evo we can now
offer customers a ‘Gran Tourer’ which is built to two different specification
levels, to suit the individual driver’s specific requirements. With all Alfa
Romeo owners’, the never ending pursuit of ultimate performance and power is of
paramount consideration so we now expect a number of our GT Super models to be
returning to our workshops shortly for the ‘Evo’ upgrade.”
The new Autodelta GT Super Evo offers increased levels of torque (287 lbft at
4800 rpm) and more power (341bhp at 6,450rpm) through the incorporation of a
larger intercooler and higher-flow injectors, boost which is now raised from
0.35 to 0.5 bar, and engine re-mapping. The 0-60 mph time is shaved to 5.2
seconds, while the main change apparent to the driver is in the substantial
improvement in mid- and high-range acceleration. “This car really feeds in the
power,” adds Jano, “you can’t but help feel the g-forces it now generates. This
was also one of the reasons why we decided to use the ‘Evo’ tag on this car, to
really push home the increase in raw performance that the GT Super Evo
achieves.” To accompany this new power and torque increase the chassis’ dynamics
have now been revised, resulting in the car reacting better to steering changes,
while the adjusted damper rates help to create a truly ‘sporty’ experience. Each
Autodelta model is exactingly hand-crafted to its owner’s individual
requirements, so the chassis tuning and set-up can be tailored to specific
needs.
The new 340bhp Autodelta GT Super Evo will make its public debut at the
prestigious MPH05 Motor Show, exactly two weeks today. Now in its third year the
MPH05 edition of the Motor Show will once again grace the halls of the Earls
Court Exhibition Centre in London. The show features strong representation from
all the leading sportscar and prestige brands, including such evocative Italian
names such as Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Pagani, as well as others
including Aston Martin, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, BMW and Lotus. Not to
forget of course that it will see the London debut of the exciting new Alfa
Romeo 159, a car firmly in Autodelta’s sights. One highlight of the show will be
the 75-minute-long theatrical performance in the specially constructed 5,000
seat auditorium – where the stars will be the cars - which is set to be hosted
by well-known BBC TV Top Gear presenters, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
Autodelta have established a tradition of introducing important
new models during their “home” motor show. Two years ago, on the occasion the
inaugural MPH03 Motor Show, we presented our first-ever bespoke car, the
Autodelta 147 GTA AM 3.7. The introduction of this model, which was dubbed “the
fastest hot hatch, ever” by no less a motoring pundit than Jeremy Clarkson, was
a defining moment in Autodelta’s two-decade long history as building
individually hand crafted “bespoke” Alfa Romeos have now established themselves
as a significant part of our product portfolio. Last year, at MPH04, we
presented the Autodelta 156 GTA AM 3.7 and the Autodelta GT Super for the first
time.
Autodelta will present the new Autodelta GT Super Evo on stand
830 in the “MPH Studio” at the MPH05 Motor Show, which will be held at Earls
Court, London from 17th-20th November 2005. Further information on the MPH05
Motor Show can be found at
www.mphshow.co.uk, Jano Djelalian and the
Autodelta staff will be on hand to answer any questions and will be looking
forward to seeing you. |
